Recovery comes first and the timing is different for everyone. In the early weeks we focus on regular meals and nutrition. Once you have recovered and your GP or midwife is comfortable, we can look at gradual weight changes.
Gradual change can be reasonable, but strict dieting is not recommended while breastfeeding. We make sure you are eating enough to support feeding and recovery, and adjust slowly once feeding is settled.
No. Weight support can be planned around breastfeeding. Decisions about breastfeeding are yours to make with your health professionals.
Please do not cut out foods without medical advice. If your baby’s doctor recommends changes to your diet, we can help you plan meals that still meet your nutrition needs, including calcium.
We can help with eating and routine, but your emotional wellbeing matters too. Please talk to your GP or call the PANDA National Helpline on 1300 726 306. In an emergency, call 000.
